Lead Capture and Management – Cross Sell Your Customers

How many policies would you like with that?

Sometimes all you need is a reminder.

Although cross –selling is no new technique, when applied to the insurance industry, especially in retail locations where there is opportunity to be face to face with clients, the value is evident. Brokerages will benefit from cross-selling to their current customers, if they track and manage it correctly.

It was clearly heard throughout the Insurance Canada Technology Awards and Conference that technology is moving quickly in the insurance industry. Productivity development and system integration is becoming integral for those who want to survive and thrive in a competitive market.

So why not automate the cross-selling process?

Some Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) or front end staff may not always be comfortable with the cross-selling ‘sales’ role, so integrating technology to assist with customer service is finally replacing the post it note.

If you are a CSR with great people skills, all is takes is great customer service and a little help from good management to ask for new business.

Once you have the technology to automate and capture this communication, your sales staff will have a new database of leads with the ability to track and manage them through the sales cycle.

If you could ensure your staff asks current clients if they would like ‘another policy with that?’, wouldn’t you?

This channel of communication for delivering cross-selling questions has been developed by Web Wizards Inc. It is called Insurance Lead Generator (ILG) and it has been improving efficiencies in lead capture and management for Manitoba brokerages since 2010.

This technology can be applied to most businesses looking to cross-sell products and services at the retail location.

Google Places and Your Local Company

We have all noticed the changes in Google search engine results pages lately and if you have not claimed your Google Places entry you should do it today.  Google has been working towards dominating local search and the fact that Google Places entries are showing up in the regular results shows us the future of local business online.

The updated Google Places entry now has evolved into an equivalent of a Fan page – almost.  .WW_Logo_15y final pms 072

Businesses can post descriptions of their business, photos and video and can post updates or special offers to their customers.  Customer reviews are posted and they can be responded to as well as both mobile and print coupons can be offered to bring in sales.

The best part is it is FREE!
If you already have a Google account then you should claim your Google Places page to help get a better ranking and more traffic to your website.  If you don’t have a Google account then click here to sign upThe second part to ranking well is to have to optimize your Google Places Page.

How To Optimize Your Google Places Entry

1)      Add up to 10 images and at least one simple video.

2)      Create some custom fields that are relevant to your business

3)      List your business in at least a few directories.  Yelp.ca and HotFrog.ca

4)      Get reviews by your customers.  These can be done on review sites like Yelp.ca or directly on your Google Places page.

5)      Use the Places Posting feature to announce sales and events. Click on the Coupons tab in the top left corner of your screen, then click Add new coupon.

These are the basics every business should perform. If you would like to know more about how to drive traffic to your website call Web Wizards Inc. at 989-5664.

Web Wizards Winnipeg-Web Design and Web Development since 1995.

Thirteen years ago, Matthew Amihude and Marshall Posner were guest speakers at my Multi Media Course being held at Red River College in the CN Station.  One component of the web design course was an introduction to the Internet and basic html programming for websites.

Web Wizards Media Services was their fledgling web development company.  As a thank you to both of them coming down to talk about the Internet, website design, web hosting etc., they would be given a graduate of the class for 6 weeks or work placement and that’s where I come in.

Feb 2, 1997 I became a member of the Web Wizards team and we were working in a wide open market.  We had several clients from the first two years the company was open and with me there it allowed for more active sales.

A new project would come in and we split the work.  Marshall was our “Designer” and created the visual components for the web site.  He then turned it over to me and I sliced it up and put it together using basic html from scratch – no templates or style sheets or Dreamweaver back in 1997. While I was doing this, Marshall and Matt were out doing cold calls, knocking on doors looking for the next client. Matt was up next and he worked late into the night making the forms function and adding shopping carts using CGI. Everything was done by hand and it was time consuming – no short cuts.

In 1997 we were able to tell our clients that we would get them ranked in the top 10 on many search engines and we delivered!  There was no cost to submit a web site.  There were requirements like good keywords, meta tags, etc., and there were a few programs available that would allow for mass submissions to many unknown and small search engines. Google was a free submission and had its own form as did several other of the larger engines in the late 90’s; these were all handled one at a time.

The industry has come a long way in the 13 years that I have been involved.

Search Engine Optimization is one of the new kids on the block and is absolutely necessary to have on performed on your web site if you want to get it ranked by any of the larger search engines. This is an entirely new industry and is growing fast.

It has been a wild and exciting ride for Web Wizards and myself. We have grown from a 3 person office behind a flower shop on North Main Street Winnipeg to modern offices in The Exchange District with 26 Wizards creating magic every day.

Stay tuned – we are still growing and still working on the cutting edge.
